 Memorial Day Activities in Richmond, Indiana 

Display your United States Flag at half-staff UNTIL NOON as per U.S. Code title 4 chap. 1 sec. 7 para. m. When you first raise your flag in the morning, it should be briskly raised to the top of the staff (two-blocked position), then slowly lowered to half-staff.

Display your POW/MIA Flag all day as per U.S. Code title 36 chap. 9 sec. 902 para. c(1)(F). During the time the U.S. Flag is at half-staff, the POW/MIA Flag should also be at half-staff, either below the U.S. Flag on the same staff or at half-staff on a separate one. If this is not possible, the POW/MIA Flag should not be displayed at all until noon when the U.S. Flag is raised to the two-blocked position.

9:00am Ceremony at the Earlham Cemetery Soldiers Hill by Sons of the Union Veterans.

10:00am Ceremony at the Earlham Cemetery Veterans Field of Honor (in the NW corner) with remembrances of fallen veterans, proclamation by the Mayor, recognition of fallen veterans and POW/MIA by local veterans organizations.

11:00am Ceremony at the Veterans Memorial Park - access is via Johnson Street at (approximately) 80 North 2nd Street (west of the jail.) View war memorials, patriotic ceremony, recognition of war casualties, and presentation of thoughts.

(11:00am IN CASE OF RAIN, ceremony at American Legion Post 65, 109 N 6th ST.)

Noon Ceremony at the Earlham Cemetery Soldiers Hill by Sons of the Union Veterans including a 21-gun salute with cannon.

Noon Ceremony at the Marine Corps Memorial Flag site in Glen Miller Park (just north of the tennis courts.)

3:00-3:01pm - National Moment of Remembrance to honor the men and women of the United States who died in the pursuit of freedom and peace — to join in "prayer for a permanent peace."
